As you should already know by now, we love food. Whether this is sweet or savoury, we just cant stop ourselves from tucking into lots of delicious dishes (we aren’t ashamed, its good to have a hobby). This time, we thought we would do a roundup of our favourite vegan and vegetarian restaurants in London. For this, we tried to look past our usual grazing ground and test out a few hidden gems, discovering the best of what London has to offer.
Fed by Water is a plant-based, Mediterranean haven showing Londoners that a cruelty free, healthy living lifestyle doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on taste. With every dish packed full of fresh, seasonal ingredients, it really isn’t a surprise that they are delicious, indulgent and full of surprises. Our top menu picks are the marinara pizza on a charcoal base or the broccoli cream pasta (Orecchiette Alla Salentina), swapping the wheat pasta to rice pasta for a gluten free alternative.
Flat three isn’t strictly vegetarian or vegan, however it has a great choice of dishes to cater for a meat-free lifestyle, making it the perfect spot a group with differing preferences. Our favourite bites include the kabocha with fig or the Scottish girolles with a corn miso. This has a somewhat sophisticated menu, however they definitely don’t compromise on taste. So next time you are in Holland Park, don’t look any further!
Although this isn’t gluten free and chia seed infused, this is a one of our favourite new finds. Club Mexicana puts a twist on traditional Mexican street food, by making it 100% vegan. By using sustainably sourced ingredients from local suppliers, they certainly don’t compromise on quality or taste. Our top picks are the Mexican street corn, Carne Asada or the Jackfruit Tinga with a pumpkin seed puree – yum! This is a spot you definitely need to visit. You can find them in Pamela bar, Camden Market or Dinerama in Shoreditch.
If you are looking to treat yourself to some posh nosh, look no further. Vanilla Black looks to challenge the stereotypes of vegetarian cooking and create difficult, forward thinking dishes. You wont find any herbed potatoes and vegetable lasagne on their menu; Vanilla Black raises the game for fine dining. So if you want to tickle your taste buds with something new, try the iced and charred Avocado or the cauliflower dumplings with parsley and walnut crumb. You won’t want to miss out on this experience.
